After a vivid supernatural experience, songwriter Aurora Smedley moved to Seattle and started Midnight Daughter with violinist Bryan Djunaedi in 2019. Within a year, the duo was selected as a finalist for the Tiny Desk Contest, featured on KISW, and interviewed on KEXP.  

COVID shutdowns upended the fledgling project.  After multiple lineup changes, Aurora finally took the project solo, releasing her self-titled debut, MIDNIGHT DAUGHTER in spring of 2024 to widespread accolades in Metal Magazine, LADYGUNN, New Noise, and more. 

Midnight Daughter explores depth, emotion, and connection with the cosmos.  Aurora's songwriting contemplates Life, death/rebirth, and the interweaving threads of Universal Consciousness. The work ranges widely between heartrending vulnerability and ripping, hard rock head-bangers, and shifts organically in time, tempo, and key signature. 

With dynamics evoking classical composition, searing four-octave vocal delivery, and evocative lyricism, Midnight Daughter is a force of nature.
